A Taste of All

It was Halloween and there was a party going on for Seventeen Magazine in Manhattan at a loft. Everyone is drinking champagne, alcohol, and enjoying the DJ play his beats. Marissa walks in, and Ben notices her.
Ben says happily, "Hey Marissa, you look awfully good tonight."
Marissa replies politely, "Thanks Ben, it took forever to get here. The place looks so pretty." Marissa walks to the bar and Ben follows her. As Marissa sits and thinks about her drink, Ben is standing next to her. He's hesitant, but he finally gathers courage to say something.
Apologetically, Ben says, "Marissa, before tonight goes as a waste. I just want to ask, what about the ring scared you?" Hearing what he said, Marissa remained quiet and called the Bartender.
The Bartender came asking, "Have you decided on your drink yet?" Marissa was relieved and asked for a Painkiller. Ben was surprised that she ordered such a drink.
Within 2 minutes, Marissa got her drink and walked to her friends. Ben was confused and disappointed. He began to follow her. At first, Marissa didn't notice, because it was so crowded. She met up with her friends and they were talking about boy scouting. As she turned to go use the restroom, she saw Ben staring at her with such angry eyes. She ignored him, going to the bathroom. As she came out, he was there, standing looking at her again. Marissa walked to the bar again getting another drink, and Ben followed her. She began to hasten her pace, but he caught up to her.
"Tell me why Marissa," holding her arm. She shook his hand away.
"I already told you why! Can't you just stop following me!!?? You don't understand. You never did. It's just not the same anymore. I'm not ready for that!"
He stood there, shocked at what just happened. She walked towards the bar and ordered a Flirtini.

  1. The names of the drinks are fantastic! I love that you infused the drinks with Marissa's intentions. I think that definitely works as symbolism that she is not ready for the commitment of marriage.
